Daffodil Dayze 2010
Many thanks for helping make the 2010 season a success –
The daffodils bowed to the snow and went on to endure here where others faded fast. We now extend right through November with the beautiful Spring Garden and Vintage Rhododendrons still in flower.
It is with deep gratitude to our growing list of sponsors and hard working volunteers that we present the site today. Every one was astonished with the development and wandered the tracks that circumvent this magnificent estate. The waterfall provided a delightful attraction for our guests, with many extending their stay to sit for a while. Finding additions to our faerie grotto is enchanting as guests bring treasures and place them amongst the fernery.
We are thrilled with the level of community support and offer special thanks to Greenwitch, Anne Benington, Loyis Stewart and Jack Sim all of whom were true ambassadors for the daffodils. It was great to be a part of the Lawrence Duathalon on Country Fair Day with so many people making good use of the tracks. (One lady had enough breath to claim it was exquisite torture) It was also uplifting to see many of Clutha Country’s representatives and local Community Board members taking in Gala Day.
Over $6000 was raised over the season for site development and administration, with $400 going to the Lawrence Toy Library from the daffodil sales. Once again, we had the benefit of the Community Employment Initiative, a COGS grant contributed towards general expenses and Community Post gave us envelopes. Our Brick campaign is well under way, attracting international support. We are delighted with the results for this season and will make good use of all sponsorship.
Sincere thanks to all our sponsors and supporters who help make our Dayze brighter.
